Bike swap?

Does anyone ever do an international bike swap? As in, I live in California with my bike but want to tour in France. You live in France with your bike and want to tour in California. Have you heard of this working out? Assuming the size and specs of the bikes were compatible... It seems like that would be easier than traveling with my bike and cheaper than buying and selling back one over there. Thoughts?

I too have often thought this wouls be a good idea. I live on the Hadrian's Wall cycle route and have several bikes suitable to lend.
